HIGH POINT, NC (July 29, 2026) – The Lenny Peters Foundation announced a $200,000 donation in support of the Lenny Peters Cup at a check presentation ceremony held today in High Point.
Since 2022, the Lenny Peters Cup has been held alongside the High Point Autumn Rowing Festival and has become the largest international sporting event in North Carolina. The event is recognized as a leading Southeast rowing championship. Now in its fifth year, the Cup unites the community in support of charitable initiatives to improve health and well-being across the Piedmont Triad.
The Lenny Peters Foundation’s contribution supports the ongoing success and expansion of the Cup and its associated charitable activities. The upcoming event is scheduled for Saturday, October 24 at Oak Hollow Lake in High Point and is expected to attract thousands of visitors, athletes, and spectators. Up to 1,000 rowers will compete in youth, collegiate and adult races, with participants from surrounding states and international teams. University crews from Scotland, England, and four additional countries will compete against leading American rowers. The event, which is free and open to the public, will also include VIP hospitality, a beer garden, food trucks, and a dog show.
The Cup’s impact reaches well beyond the course, generating significant economic activity for the city of High Point and Guilford County.
“Oak Hollow Lake is one of High Point’s most valuable destinations and a true local amenity,” said Melody Burnett, President of Visit High Point. “The High Point Autumn Rowing Festival and Lenny Peters Cup draw thousands of visitors from across North Carolina and beyond, generating over $2.6 million in economic impact for our community.”
For the Lenny Peters Foundation, the gift represents more than a contribution to a rowing event.
“The Lenny Peters Cup reflects my family’s commitment to serving others and strengthening our community,” stated Elise Peters-Carey, Director of the Lenny Peters Foundation. “We are honored to present this gift, which will help expand the positive impact the Cup has on local organizations and the people they serve.”
