THE LENNY PETERS FOUNDATION AND BETHANY MEDICAL
TO HOST MARCH 24 DUFFLE BAG GIVEAWAY AT WEST MARKET
Ensuring a Safe, Dry and Mobile Means for People Between Homes to Protect Their Property, Food and Personal Care Items
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Privacy, security and mobility are concepts many take for granted. These days, unless discussing cybersecurity and data privacy, most people do not give much consideration to privacy, security and mobility. We draw our shades, lock our doors and move about the world freely and relatively safely. For those living on the street, however, these concerns are paramount to survival.
The Lenny Peters Foundation and Bethany Medical Duffle Bag Giveaway will take place Thursday, March 24 at 6 p.m. at Bethany Medical at West Market, 3801 W. Market St., in Greensboro.
The Foundation and Bethany Medical, now the largest single-owner healthcare provider in the state, want to ensure those who need it have a means of protecting their individual property and perhaps even food or hygiene items from the elements and theft. At certain points in life many of us might never experience, dignity becomes all one has left to cling to, and a sense of safety and a little privacy go a long way toward preserving one’s self-respect.
By providing a place to keep things dry, warm and protected and making it easier to pick up and move when necessary, the hope is to make life a little more manageable for those enduring hardships. Having dry clothes or a place to store food could make all the difference in someone’s life, until he or she can get into a permanent housing situation.
“Making a positive impact in someone’s life, even a small one, can go a long way to letting them know people do care,” said Elise Peters Carey, President of Bethany Medical. “And health wise, any slight improvement in the safety and well-being of people exposed to the elements over an extended length of time is a step in the right direction.”
During the event, Maho’s Bistro and Sweets-n-Treats food trucks will hand out free food and tasty treats courtesy of the Lenny Peters Foundation.
The event will also feature a performance by the Magic Feet Dance Company. This should be a fun event families can attend and, if choosing to, donate toiletries and personal care items – please, no knives or scissors – to be handed out along with the duffle bags being provided by the Foundation and Bethany Medical.
