“Ray and his family didn’t have anything but the clothes on their backs and a few belongings when they immigrated to the US.”
Ray Wah and his family immigrated to the US nearly 10 years ago after spending much of their lives in a refugee camp in Myanmar (formerly Burma). For most of its independent years, the country has been engrossed in rampant ethnic strife and Myanmar’s ethnic groups have been involved in one of the world’s longest-running ongoing civil wars.
Ray and his family didn’t have anything but the clothes on their backs and a few belongings when they immigrated to the US. After coming to the United States, they now have jobs, a roof over their heads, a vehicle, educational opportunities for their children, and US citizenship, something Ray is most proud of. The Lenny Peters Foundation was happy to assist in the form of a van to provide Ray and his family transportation. Ray now works as part of the team at Bethany Medical Center keeping offices clean and welcoming for our patients.
