Tucked away in the Pamta district of Kerala, India, Lenny Peters Angels Home provides a nurturing home for 25 children and young women living with mental challenges ranging from severe to mild. Many residents, aged 18 to 45, are orphans or come from single-parent families.
But the home provides far more than a place to live. It is a place where residents receive the care they need while being encouraged to develop skills, discover their abilities and grow more independent in their own ways.
Care That Makes Growth Possible
A team of four dedicated sisters, along with a cook and a helper, looks after the residents’ daily needs. Together, they create a nurturing environment for children and young women who rely on them for daily support.
This consistent care gives each resident the opportunity to participate, learn and develop at a pace suited to their individual abilities.
Growing Toward Independence
For the residents of Lenny Peters Angels Home, progress can take many forms. Because academic training is not feasible for many of them, the home focuses on practical skills that encourage independence and build confidence.
Residents learn basic skills through gardening and poultry care, while yoga and sports are adapted to their individual abilities. These everyday experiences give each resident opportunities to learn, participate and become more independent in ways that are meaningful to them.
Here, growth does not have to look the same for everyone. Each new skill and step toward independence is progress worth celebrating.

Providing this level of care requires significant resources, and the home eventually faced serious financial challenges. During that difficult period, its team learned about the Lenny Peters Foundation and its work supporting similar causes.
After connecting with the Foundation’s team in India, the home shared the circumstances facing the children and young women in its care. Dr. Lenny Peters and his team stepped forward without hesitation, providing support when the home needed it most.
That support helps the sisters continue what they do every day: care for the residents while giving each of them opportunities to grow in their own way.
A Place in Their Thoughts and Prayers
The home’s gratitude is deeply personal. In a heartfelt message, one member of the home affectionately addressed Dr. Peters as “Uncle Lenny,” thanking him and his team for stepping forward when they needed support most.
