The Lenny Peters Angels Home hosts about 25 women aged 18 to 50, but housing is not the most impactful part of what happens there. In the quiet town of Adoor, Kerala, India sits a refuge for women with mental disabilities who have been abandoned, forgotten or left without a family. Here the girls live in a place full of love. Here the girls can grow.
From Abandoned to Embraced
Under the care of compassionate staff and volunteers, the residents are supported. Christian nuns provide the women with quality living conditions, nutritious meals, and medical support. The staff aim to provide a better quality of care than the residents previously had.
The Path to Purpose
In The Angels Home, little moments can lead to big impacts. The residents engage in daily activities designed to support their mental and emotional well-being. Art, music and gardening give the women a sense of purpose and joy. Birthdays and festivals are celebrated with heartfelt enthusiasm, reminding each resident that they are seen, valued and loved.
Beyond enjoyable pastimes, the home also offers rehabilitation and integration. Activities like simple vocational training can help those who show signs of recovery to slowly rebuild their lives and, in some cases, reconnect with society. Healing is not just physical, but emotional and spiritual too. It is this holistic model of care that makes Angels Home distinct.
The Foundation’s Support
Dr. Lenny Peters and his foundation have a profound impact. The Foundation independently operates 14 homes across the world that serve children, the disabled, the elderly and the ill.
The Lenny Peters Foundations extends both financial support and the gift of dignity to the women of Angels Home. His unwavering commitment ensures that they receive the essentials many of us take for granted: nutritious food, safe shelter, comprehensive medical care, love and respect.
Thanks to the Lenny Peters Foundation, the forgotten are remembered, the abandoned are embraced, and angels learn to soar again.
